The Primrose name has been associated with innovation and excellence in engineering for over a hundred years. In the early years of last century James Primrose was a pioneer in the then new field of electrical engineering. ​In the 1930s James formed the consulting engineering firm Ramsay & Primrose, which grew to become one of Scotland’s most prominent electrical and mechanical practices during the 1960’s and 70’s under the leadership of his son Jim Primrose. ​Robin is now the third generation of the Primrose family to stand out in this field. Having developed specialist knowledge of the lift sector during his twenty years with Ramsay & Primrose, in 1999 he formed his own eponymous consultancy practice specialising solely in lift and escalator engineering.
Founded in 1986, Lester Controls has become one of the UK’s best-known manufacturers of traction and hydraulic lift and escalator controllers. Our ethos has always been to design and manufacture competitively priced controllers, from launching our first relay-based controller, to the very successful MP500, in the early 1990s. Today, we manufacture a wide range of controllers which are site-specific and include complex multi-group features with internet and GSM connectivity.
